The public art "Yokai Tachi no Mori" by Shigeru Mizuki will be set up at Yonago Kitaro Airport, and the unveiling ceremony will be held on March 8.


"Yokai no Mori" is a stained glass depicting the youkai created by Shigeru Mizuki. It was produced at a workshop in Atami City, Shizuoka Prefecture, under the supervision of Mizuki Productions. The facial expressions of the youkai are carefully "painted" by craftsmen.


Stained glass is made with traditional materials and techniques that originated in Europe. "Yokai no Mori" is an art work that fuses this European tradition with Japanese youkai. The width of the stained glass is about 10.2 meters and the height is 2.8 meters. The number of glasses used is about 2,600 pieces.


The stained glass is installed on the 2nd floor of the Yonago Kitaro Airport Building in front of the departure gate for domestic and international flights. The unveiling ceremony will be held from 10:00 on March 8, 2016. The venue is the departure floor on the 2nd floor of the Yonago Airport Building.
