MUJI announces that it will switch drink packages from PET bottles to aluminum cans. It will be newly released from April 23rd.


Switching to aluminum cans, which have a high recycling rate and are considered to be recycling resources, is part of efforts to recycle global resources and reduce waste. Twelve types will be changed, including "Non-caffeine Green Rooibos Tea", "Marika Tea with Chinese Tea Leaves", "100% Fruit Juice Soda Apple", and "Ginger Ale with Domestic Ginger".

As part of the reduction of plastic waste, we have installed a water dispenser in the MUJI store and expanded the free water supply service. It started at 113 stores in July 2020 and has now increased to 270 stores. It will be introduced to 300 stores by the end of May 2021 and to all 460 stores in Japan by the end of December 2021. The "Water" app, which started at the same time, is a fun way to incorporate "water supply" into daily life. The number of downloads has reached 135,000. It is said that it led to the reduction of bottles (* 500 ml conversion).
