New Cast Announced for TV Anime "Ranma 1/2!

Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions (ShoPro) announced the new cast of the TV anime "Ranma 1/2" on August 24, 2024.

Background and Outline of the Anime Adaptation

"Ranma 1/2" is a popular manga by Rumiko Takahashi, creator of such masterpieces as "Urusei Yatsura," "Mezon Ikkoku," and "Inuyasha," which has sold more than 200 million copies in total. The story of this work begins when Genma Saotome and his son Ranma, who have been training in China, come to the Tendou family. Ranma is a character with a mysterious constitution that turns back into a woman when exposed to water and back into a man when exposed to hot water, and the story unfolds with a slapstick drama with a cast of rich personalities.

Everyone, this is great! Everyone looks like they are having a great time performing. They are not full of themselves. I knew that voice actors are great, didn't I? Oh, by the way, I could barely keep up with everyone.

Koichi Yamadera (Ryoga Hibiki)

"Ranma 1/2" is still the most interesting thing I've ever read! Rumiko-sensei is a genius after all! The new anime is great, isn't it? What? I'm playing Ryoga again? Not a surprise? I'm happy, but can I do it? I'm confident about P-chan and the guide, but.... What? Kouhei and the others are going to continue? Being reunited with Shampoo was a surprise like opening the surprise box of my life! It's a strange feeling, as if we were reunited with ourselves from the previous production. Genma Saotome (CV. Cho) Genma Saotome

is Ranma's father and a master of the indiscriminate Saotome style of fighting. While training in China, he fell into the Kumaneko Drowned Spring in Jusenkyo, and when covered with water, he turns into a panda. He is a brother apprentice and close friend of Akane's father, Soun Tendou.

Ryoga Hibiki (CV. Koichi Yamadera)

Ranma's classmate and rival from his boys' school days. He sometimes has trouble getting to the location of a duel due to his super poor sense of direction. He follows Ranma to China, but falls into the Black Pig Drowning Spring in Jusenkyo and becomes a black piglet when exposed to water.

Shampoo (CV. Rei Sakuma)

is the daughter of a woman tribe member who is skilled enough to win the village martial arts competition. She seems to have followed Ranma to Japan...?

Ranma Saotome and Akane Tendou, the third daughter of Tendou Dojo, are married by their parents. However, during his training in China, Ranma fell into the legendary training ground "Jusenkyo" and became a woman when he was exposed to water and a man when he was exposed to hot water.
