
Tokyoites ' Favorite Shopping Streets
As a result of asking 360 Tokyoites about their "favorite shopping streets," many respondents chose shopping streets in cities such as Kichijoji and Koenji, which ranked high in the "Popular Towns" category.

By gender, more women than men said they liked Togoshi Ginza Shopping Arcade. Conversely, men were more likely than women to support Nakano Broadway. Overall, the results show that men tend to prefer shopping streets with a variety of bars and entertainment facilities, while women prefer shopping streets with delicatessens and traditional stores.
■Why do you like that shopping arcade?
When asked why they chose their "favorite shopping district," the most common reason given was "Lively" at 39.7%. This was followed by "Because there are many/full of stores" at 37.2% and "Because I like the atmosphere of the town/station where the shopping district is located" at 35.0%.

Is having a shopping district nearby a deciding factor in choosing a place to live?
When asked if having a shopping district nearby was a deciding factor in their choice of housing, 38.1% said it was, and 46.4% said it was not a deciding factor, but it was important. The results show that about 85% of respondents consider the shopping district to be an important factor in choosing a residence.

The survey was conducted from January 19 to 20, 2015. The survey targeted men and women aged 20-59 living in Tokyo who responded in the preliminary survey that they "like" shopping arcades "very much" and that they "buy prepared foods" at least once a week. The number of valid responses was 360 samples.
