The new "Steam Cream Star Wars" design is a fusion of the Italian movie poster for "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope," released in 1977, and modern illustration icons.

"Star Wars Day" is said to be derived from a pun on the words "May the Force" and "May the 4th" from the famous line "May the Force be with you" in the movie. (According to the Japan Anniversary Association).
