In Western apartments and condominiums, there are often no washing machines in the room, and on weekends everyone goes out to the nearby coin laundry with a laundry bag.
However, weekend laundromats tend to be crowded, and if you're not good at it, you may end up spending half a day there. For many people, going to the laundromat every weekend is a burden, and "Drumi" was designed to reduce that burden.
"Drumi" is a small, lightweight washing machine that can be installed in a small room. Since it can be washed with about 20% of the water of an electric washing machine, there is no need to install a drainage facility in the room. The time required for one wash is about 10 minutes. You can't do a lot of laundry, but if you can avoid going to the laundromat on weekends by doing a lot of laundry every day, it will be less stressful.
The weight of clothes that can be thrown in one wash is about 2.23 kg. This is one jeans, three sweaters, six T-shirts, and eight men's boxer shorts.
It doesn't require electricity, so it's perfect for auto camping. You can easily carry it by loading it in the trunk of the car.
In households with pets, it can also be used as a washing machine exclusively for pets. By washing separately from other laundry, you can prevent the odor from transferring and hair from sticking.
The developer, yirego, is currently accepting reservations on the crowdfunding site Indiegogo, which also serves as a promotional campaign. At the time of writing, one green-colored "Drumi" is available for $ 199. It also supports delivery to Japan.
In Japanese apartments and condominiums, there is a washing machine storage space even in a fairly small room, so there seems to be little demand for "Drumi". But it may be useful for people who like auto camping. Shipment is scheduled for October 2016.
