"Helium Core" is a smartphone case that converts iPhone into a full-fledged camera. Developed by professional photographer Brandon Hoe.
Hoe pays attention to the wonderfulness and portability of the camera sensor of the iPhone. I thought that if I could attach professional accessories to this, I could shoot an event or incident that I happened to find while walking in the city and use it as a broadcasting material, so I came up with the development of "Helium Core".
There are already several smartphone cases with similar functions, but the feature of "Helium Core" is that it provides a total of 16 mounting points. The mounting thread is 1/4 inch-20 compatible and can be fitted with common accessories such as tripods, flashes and microphones, as well as professional equipment such as jibs, rigs, handles and shoulder mounts.
A lens mount is available on the back. A 37mm screw-in lens can be attached. With macro, wide-angle, and zoom lenses attached, you will be able to take pictures that are a bit different than before.
The chassis uses aircraft grade aluminum. While providing high protection to the iPhone itself when dropped, it does not adversely affect access to the display, ports, or buttons.
Also, when taking pictures with the iPhone, it is difficult to hold because the main body is thin and slippery. However, if you install "Helium Core", it will be hard to slip and easy to hold without attaching accessories.
Hoe is currently conducting a campaign to recruit investors on the crowdfunding site kickstarter for the commercialization of "Helium Core". At the time of this writing, the $ 108 investment is available for the iPhone 6 / 6s size, and the $ 119 investment is available for the iPhone 6 Plus / 6s Plus. The retail prices will be $ 155 and $ 170, respectively. Shipment is scheduled for July 2016.
