The other day, I used baking soda to clean my gas stove at home. I felt good about what went well, and decided to challenge that "strong enemy" with baking soda. It is a cover of the ventilation fan in the kitchen, which tends to collect dirt.
Ventilation fan cover that has not been cleaned properly for about 3 years. Oil stains and dust are thickly piled up, and the color changes to an eerie ocher. Can baking soda remove such terrible stains?
This time, I decided to use "baking soda paste" which is effective for oil stains. First, mix baking soda and water in a ratio of 3: 1.
After applying the baking soda paste to the entire surface of the cover, put it in a plastic bag so that it will not dry out. After leaving it for 2 hours, move it to the kitchen sink and wash it off.
Well, after this, the inside of the sink becomes difficult. The brown oil stains were peeled off and scattered, making it a scene that could not be shown in the photograph. And maybe 20% of the dirt remained, probably because the "enemy" was too strong, so I decided to try using "vinegar" as well.
After sprinkling baking soda (as powder) on the remaining dirt on the cover, drop vinegar dissolved in a small amount of water. As a result of repeating the work of rubbing the sponge where the baking soda and vinegar reacted and foamed, it became such a clean appearance!
● Summary
I will summarize the procedure I practiced this time.
1. Apply "baking soda paste" (a mixture of baking soda 3: water 1) to the entire cover and leave it for 2 hours.
2. Scrape off dirt with "baking soda paste".
3. Sprinkle "baking soda" and "vinegar water" in order to scrape off the remaining dirt.
So, if it's not very dirty, just try "baking soda paste", and if it's bad, try the combination of "baking soda + vinegar". Baking soda may discolor depending on the material to be cleaned (aluminum, etc.), so if you are worried, please try it in an inconspicuous place.
By the way, only the cover of the ventilation fan was cleaned this time. Of course, the fan inside was also dirty, so I'll try to clean it with baking soda someday. Stay tuned for future reports.
