Diatomaceous earth is a fossilized deposit of diatom shells (phytoplankton, algae, etc.). It has fine holes on the surface and has excellent moisture absorption and desorption properties, so it is used for coasters and bath mats that want to keep it dry.

Nitori's diatomaceous earth bath mats are available in three sizes, large, medium and small. Each color is available in three colors: ivory, turquoise blue, and rose. Both are plain.


This time I bought the smallest ivory. It was 29 cm x 39 cm, a mini size with a width added to the scale, and the price was 925 yen (excluding tax). Even though it's small, I'm happy that it's less than 1,000 yen!



As anyone who has used diatomaceous earth coasters knows, it has overwhelming water absorption and quick-drying power. The water that drips from your body after taking a bath is quickly sucked in and dried.



However, this size (20 cm x 29 cm) may be too small ... Water droplets have also fallen outside the mat. Choose your size carefully.

If it gets dirty or loses water absorption, polish it with the included "cleaning sandpaper".


Since the diatomaceous earth bath mat is a hard material, placing it directly on the floor may damage the floor. It is safe to lay a thin towel or non-slip sheet underneath.
