I found an insole using such diatomaceous earth with Hundred yen store Daiso. Its name is "Diatomaceous earth insole".


Raw materials are diatomaceous earth, latex and polyester. Generally, diatomaceous earth items are hard like pottery, but this is not all diatomaceous earth but a part of it. It feels soft to the touch and has cushioning properties that are typical of insoles.



Available in two sizes, 21.5 to 25.5 cm and 24 cm to 27 cm. Choose according to your foot size.


When using, cut with scissors according to the size of your shoes. It is easy because it comes with a paper pattern with a guide line.




After cutting, turn the gray side up and fit it in your shoes. This time I'm trying with sneakers.



When I put it on, the softness is simply comfortable! As for water absorption, it feels smooth and comfortable right after you put on your shoes, but if you wear it for a long time, something between your fingers gets stuffy. It's more comfortable than nothing, but surprisingly smooth! Not so much.

However, the comfort is beyond imagination. It has elasticity like a low-resilience material and absorbs the impact when walking. It's not very thick, but it's quite high quality for a 100 level insole.

Therefore, I think it's best to consider the main as cushioning and the water absorption as sub. When not in use, it can be taken out and dried, so it seems to be especially useful when traveling while wearing the same shoes for several days!
