MUJI started water supply service at some stores. We are also developing a bottle for water supply, "a bottle of water that you pack yourself".

This is part of efforts to reduce "plastic waste," which has become a problem in recent years. From July 1st, we will sell "self-filled water bottles" and install a water dispenser in the MUJI store to provide a free water supply service (using tap water). As a result, more people will bring their own bottles instead of buying new PET bottled beverages, and we aim to be an opportunity to think about the environment and health.

In addition to "MUJI Ginza" and "MUJI Grand Front Osaka," water dispensers will be installed at 113 stores (as of July 1), centered on large stores and new stores that serve as bases in each region. It will be gradually expanded and will be installed in about 400 stores in Japan by the end of FY2020.


The "self-filling water bottle" (190 yen including tax), which was released together with the water supply service, is a bottle that allows you to refill water repeatedly. In addition to the water dispenser installed in MUJI, you can easily use it at home or in the office. With a capacity of 330 ml, it is a drinkable size that is not bulky and heavy in the bag. Wide mouth design that is easy to drink and wash. When it is no longer needed, it can be collected at the store and recycled as a polyester raw material.




A list of stores that have water dispensers is posted on the official website of MUJI. In addition to MUJI stores, public water supply points are also introduced in the app "Water-MUJI Life" developed by MUJI.
