It is said that many people unload new toothbrushes at the New Year, but what do you do with your used toothbrushes? I keep it instead of throwing it away and use it to clean the faucet gutter or to remove a scale insect from a tree plant.

According to the "Toothbrush Awareness Survey" conducted by DIMSDRIVE, an online research service operated by Interwired, 69.8% of respondents reuse their used toothbrushes for other purposes, which is about 70% of the total number of respondents. Based on the results of the survey, we would like to introduce what kind of uses are being made for used toothbrushes.

When those who reuse used toothbrushes were asked what they use them for, the top three uses were cleaning the "washstand" (60.8%), "kitchen" (53.1%), and "bath" (51.3%). It is certainly convenient for cleaning small areas such as faucets and drains. In addition to cleaning, it also seems to be used for brushing small areas such as "shoe polish" (9.1%), "collar/sleeve part washing" (6.7%), and "stain washing" (6.3%).

What is even more noteworthy is the "recommended use" of the products asked about in addition to the above options. The following are excerpts from the answers that the author thought were very interesting.

Cleaning hairbrushes
・Cleaning seals
・Cleaning motorcycle and bicycle chains
・Cleaning watch bands
・Cleaning fingernail brushes
・Collecting hair on carpets
・Removing mud from the roots of spinach and other plants
・Brushing kittens

All of these ideas sound like they would fit perfectly if you ask us. If you always throw them out as is, why not give them a try at the beginning of the New Year?

The survey was conducted from November 19 to November 28, targeting 5,973 male and female DIMSDRIVE monitors in their teens to over 70s.
