Hanko, a cat from the Edo period, "Fifty-three-story cats"
Pon the carefree Edo cats.

At the online shop "Inkan Hanko SHOP Hankozu", the Hanko "53 Hime no Neko" is a design of the popular work "Myokai Kogoju Sanbiki" by Utagawa Kuniyoshi, an ukiyo-e artist from the Edo period. "Zukan" has been released.

Kuniyoshi Utagawa, who is known as an "unrivaled cat lover," drew a cat-themed caricature as a parody of "Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido." In the fifty-three-story cat book, the cats appearing in the work are designed for stamps by the store's exclusive designer.

There are 55 types of illustrations in all. Each cat is named after the post station from Nihonbashi to Kyo, which appears in the 53 Stations of the Tokaido.
