The "Japan Souvenir Academy Grand Prix" is a contest held for the purpose of widely introducing souvenirs unique to a certain area that cannot be bought in other places throughout the country and deepening the excitement of the trip. It has been held since 2000, and this year marks the 8th time.
The highest-ranked "Grand Prix" in the 8th contest was the "Tabletop 100-year-old drop (pottery water purifier)" from the Shin-Kiln National Highway Store in Shiga Prefecture's Shigaraki Ceramics Village. This is a water purifier with a built-in ceramic filter and a pot for storing water. It is a ceramic water purifier that is perfect for such a slow life, where you can enjoy the taste of shochu and whiskey with water.

In addition, the "Yakusugi Millennium Forest Owl Loupe" from the Yakushima Tourist Center in Kagoshima Prefecture and the "Woodwork Shoehorn from Minami Hida" from the Butaitoge Kanko Center in Gifu Prefecture have been selected for the gold medal.
