The name "Takaoka City" first brings to mind Fujiko F. Fujio, but the city has also been a manufacturing center since the Edo period (1603-1868). The company originally manufactured and sold pots, pans, and other cooking utensils, and developed the Tolly Tray in order to introduce the appeal of aluminum and anodized aluminum to a wider audience.

The tray is anodized to create a thin layer on the surface, making it more resistant to corrosion and scratches than aluminum before the anodizing process. The process requires a high level of technology, but the company handles the entire process at its factory in Toyama, Japan, where the products are carefully crafted.

The trays come in three sizes: square (110 x 220 x 8 mm), oval (110 x 220 x 12 mm), and circle (120 x 131 x 8 mm). Prices are 1,620 yen for square and oval and 1,080 yen for circle (both including tax).

Color variations are gold, dark gray, and silver for each size. The coloring is expressed by the type of anodizing rather than painting or plating.
