A stapler that does not use a needle is very convenient. Once you start using it, you can't let go of it. It is often said that you don't have to remove the needle when you shred it, but the fact that you don't need a stapler needle is a big advantage. For example, when binding materials with a general stapler (stapler) just before the start of a meeting, if the needle breaks, it will not be noticeable. But with a stapleless stapler, you don't have to worry about "needle breakage".

Did you know that the needleless stapler is also sold at 100-yen stores? If you buy a manufacturer's product at a stationery store, you can buy a product that costs about 550 to 1,000 yen for 108 yen. It's like a dream, isn't it?

This time, I will check the ability of this 100-level stapler. Can it be used for daily work in the office? If so, is it possible to make a little luxury with the floating money (about 900 yen?)? We will verify it by comparing it with Harinax sold by Mr. Kokuyo.

■ Check your looks first! -Rabbit vs. Sperm Whale
The length of the 100-level needleless stapler is as small as about 8 cm. Is it about 60% of the total length of 13.5 cm of Harinax (8-sheet binding version) that I use on a daily basis? However, the width is 3.5 cm, which is about 0.5 cm thicker than Harinax.

The length of the 100-level needleless stapler is about 8 cm. It does not get in the way even if you put it in the drawer of the desk.

When viewed from the front, you can see that the 100th edition is a little thicker than Harinax.

The biggest difference between the two is probably the length of the lever. The length of the lever of the 100 level plate is almost half that of the KOKUYO version. For this reason, the 100th edition looks like a rabbit.

Not only is the Harinax lever long, but the back side is firmly reinforced with metal. Combined with the double length, you can exert the power to bind 8 sheets of paper.

■ I tried binding four sheets of paper-Hitotsume Kozo vs. Touch Detective Nameko
Next, I compared the most important paper binding functions. First of all, I tried to bind 4 sheets of paper with 100 uniform plates. In a stapleless stapler, a notch is made in the paper, and a "tongue piece" made by cutting the paper is inserted and bound.

Make a notch in the paper, insert a "tongue piece" into it, and bind it.
Make a notch in the paper, insert a "tongue piece" into it, and bind it.

The tongue piece and notch of the 100-level stapler have a very simple shape. The tongue piece that pops out of the notch is like the first kid's tongue. With this shape, the tongue piece can easily come off from the notch, and I have a feeling that the documents are likely to fall apart.

On the other hand, both the KOKUYO version of the tongue piece and the notch have a complicated shape. The shape of the tongue piece is a bit like a mushroom. And the tongue piece inserted in the notch of complicated shape seems to be "Touch Detective Nameko" which was popular with high school girls for a while. It is clear from this that the nameko (?) Bulked part is firmly caught in the notch, achieving stable paper binding that does not easily come off even when pulled.

Oh, nameko!
Oh, nameko!

■ I tried shaking the bound paper-Nameko sticks and wins over the first kid!
Check the binding strength. Instead of Hitotsume Kozo and Touching Detective Nameko, I picked up only one of the 100-level needleless stapler and Kokuyo-plate bound paper and shook it lightly. First of all, I will shake the document bound with 100 uniform plates.

The 100-level needleless stapler quickly fell apart

As expected, the result was that the tongue piece easily slipped out of the notch and fell apart.

On the other hand, Harinax is sticky because of the structure that the tongue piece does not come off easily. It didn't come off easily even if I swung it around.

As expected, Mr. Kokuyo!

I feel that the price difference is clear here. As expected, Mr. Kokuyo!

… That said, not many people will be wielding the bound documents during the meeting. It cannot be said that 100 staplers cannot be used at all in business. Also, if you want to bind a "one-time document" that you use only during a meeting and throw it away after the meeting, a 100% stapler will work well.

■ Additional test-How many sheets can you actually bind?
Looking at the package, it says that up to 4 sheets of 100 sheets can be bound, and up to 8 sheets of paper can be bound for the KOKUYO version. But these specifications usually read a little mackerel, right? Isn't it really possible to go a little longer?

Finally, let's test the limits of both. First of all, I tried to bind 5 sheets with 100 uniform plates. The result is a bit disastrous. After pushing down the lever, the paper stuck.

I caught a stapler without a needle ...
I caught a stapler without a needle ...

It's easy to pull it out if you pull it all the way out, but the paper will tear. If it's an important document, it's out, and even if it's a less important in-house document, the person who receives it will not feel good. It seems that the limit of "4 sheets" is strictly adhered to in the 100th edition.

Ah ...
Ah ...

So what about Harinax? Speaking of which, even 9 sheets were easily bound. However, when I challenged 10 sheets, the sperm whale's mouth refused to hold the paper and the result was that it could not be bound. The sperm whale-like look seems to have been designed so that no one would come out.

The sperm whale-like design was meaningful, wasn't it?

■ Should I buy a 100% stapler? ― "Pinch hitter, rabbit!"
Can I use a 100% needleless stapler regularly in the office? If asked, the answer would be no. Since the lever is short and the principle of leverage cannot be used, there is a demerit that if you repeat paper binding many times, your fingers will hurt. When I'm binding a large amount of documents, I'm worried that the lever may break, and I'm uncomfortable.

It takes a lot of power, and if you put more effort into it, the lever will break.

Since the lever is long, you can bind 8 sheets with your little finger! The lever itself is also solid

But when I try to staple a document with a general stapler and the needle breaks, and when I'm going to buy a needle from now on, it's too late for the meeting. If the number of documents is 4 or less, you can use a 100% needleless stapler. If you have one in the office, you can feel a little safe. Isn't such a life (?) As a "pinch hitter" perfect for a 100-level needleless stapler?

Needleless staplers may or may not be sold at Daiso stores nationwide. But of course the price is 108 yen.
