It's beautiful but I can't eat it!

As the temperature rises, ice is more often used for drinks and meals. The refrigerator in my house is equipped with an automatic ice maker, so I thought it was time to take out the water tank.

How can I wash an automatic ice maker ...?

Although the tank can be washed, I'm worried about the invisible place because I haven't used it at all during the winter. Moreover, because it is the refrigerator I got, there is no instruction manual ...

Water tank for automatic ice maker
You can't just use the water tank.

I found an "automatic ice machine cleaner" there. If you put it in a water tank and make ice as usual, you can clean and sterilize the ice machine.

You often see it these days

It is sold by various companies, but this time I used Iris Ohyama's "Automatic Ice Maker Cleaner Ice Clean". Food ingredients such as citric acid, malic acid, and umezu are used as cleaning ingredients, so it is safe to take in a bite. It comes in 150ml (5.07us fl oz) and costs about 400 yen.

To use, just put the cleaner in the water tank with tap water and make ice as usual.

After a while, orange ice appeared in the freezer. It looks a little tasty, but it contains dirt, so just throw it away.

Evidence that the ice tray inside has also passed

Thoroughly wash the water supply tank, add about half of the tank with tap water, and make ice again. Rinsing is complete when the orange ice is no longer formed. After that, you can wash the water tank and shovel and use it as usual.

Rinse is complete when the ice becomes transparent The second time is still slightly colored

The dirt is not clearly visible, but the cleaning process can be seen in color, so it is easy for the family to understand, and there is also a refreshing feeling that "I cleaned it!". Basically, it's okay to leave it alone, so it's easy for busy people to do it.

According to the product, the standard for cleaning is once every 1 to 2 months (I didn't know ...). In addition, if water other than tap water that has not been chlorinated is used during ice making, it is said that more frequent maintenance is required because germs can easily grow. Therefore, we recommend that you first clean it once before it gets really hot!
