In summer, screen doors are often used to improve ventilation. If there is a balcony with a lot of gaps or a step to go to the garden, you are worried that your small child will jump out.


An item called "Lock for screen doors" that you can buy at the 100-yen shop "Ceria" is useful in such cases. The price is 100 yen (excluding tax) for 2 pieces.



This product is a simple lock that makes it difficult to easily open a sliding door type screen door. There is a strong adhesive tape on the back, and it is installed on the center rail of the closed screen door.



After sticking it firmly, lower the lever and you're ready to go. Even if you try to open the screen door, the lever will get caught in the sash, and even if an adult puts in force as usual, it will not be a big deal.



When you want to open the window, you can lift the lever to enter the gap of the window frame together with the lock (the gap between the screen door and the glass must be 3.5 mm or more and 10 mm or less). It seems to be useful while children cannot reach the middle rail of the screen door.


Depending on the shape of the center rail, it may not be possible to attach it, so check carefully in advance (the author's house did not go to "perfect fit" either). Also, this is not for crime prevention. However, it seems to be a deterrent to intrusion from the outside.
