However, most of the rye bread available at supermarkets is a blend of wheat and rye. Strictly speaking, "wheat bread with rye" is closer than rye bread.

Pumpernickel is a traditional German rye bread. The price was 347 yen (tax included) with 6 slices (250g (8.82oz)).

The block-shaped mass in the silver pack is heavy when you pick it up. At first glance, it doesn't look like bread.


When I opened it, a dark brown lump that was close to black like a chocolate cake appeared. One is very thin, only 5mm. It is considerably thinner than a typical 6-piece sliced bread, which is about 2 cm, and even for sandwiches, which is about 1 cm.
