"Ice" is indispensable for drinks on such a hot day. The ice-picked drinks that come out at the bar feel cool just by looking at them.
An ice tray that can make large-sized "Kachiwari-style" ice is sold at the 100-yen shop "Daiso", although it is not as good as the bar's Kachiwari ice. On the surface of the package, the words "Big! You can easily make ice cubes!" But can this ice tray really make ice cream? And how cool does the iced drink make you feel? I actually bought an ice tray and tried it.
This time I bought an ice tray that can make 3 pieces of ice cubes at once. Considering that a typical ice tray of the same size makes 10 to 14 pieces of ice, we can see that the size of ice that can be made with this ice tray is 3 to 5 times that of normal ice.
When you open the package, the main body has three ice-making holes with an ice-like design. It seems that by putting water in here and freezing it, ice with a fluffy wind is formed. When you put water in and close the lid, water will spill from the ice tray, so you need to set it in a place where it can get wet.
Fill with water, put in the freezer and wait for 5 hours. The fluffy wind ice is completed. The shape of the finished ice looks like that. It wasn't really broken by an ice pick, it's a shape that imitates it, so it feels a bit deliberate, but once you put it in a drink, it doesn't bother you. The size is a passing score. It is heavy on the hand holding the glass, and this weight makes me feel mysteriously cool.
So, I found that Daiso's ice tray can make (moderately) ice, and if you pick up a drink using it, you will feel cool under the weight of the ice.
By the way, the ice I made this time turned white, but when I made it with hot water of about 40 degrees Celsius, it turned into clear and beautiful ice. If you are particular about that, it may be interesting to try it. If you put highly transparent ice in a glass, it may look cooler.
The price is, of course, 108 yen.
