November 22nd is "Good Couple Day". It is said that it was established by the "Good Couple Day Association" because we want couples all over Japan to build even more wonderful relationships.

Compared to other countries, Japanese people are often said to be "not good at communication", but looking around the author, I feel that the number of couples who are close to each other is increasing recently. In fact, in a survey conducted by Mitsubishi Electric on 500 men and women living with partners in their 20s and 60s, about 80% said they were "good friends".

Therefore, this time, based on the same survey, I would like to find out the tendencies and conditions of good friends!

■ Couples get closer when they get married !?

First, when asked "whether they are a good couple" to all the respondents, 79.2% answered that they were "good friends". When asked about the relationship between married couples before and after marriage, 420 of them said that "improved" was 43.1%, which was about three times as large as 14.5% of "worse". Somehow, marriage seems to be a happy one.


■ Is it the only child, Danna, who is happy with her marriage and is going well?

Next, we asked married people five questions about their marriage with their partners, and analyzed the answers by sibling environment. The self-identification rate of good friends was higher for "younger brother with sister" (83.3%) and "sister with sister" (83.3%).


In addition, "only child" male and "younger sister with older brother" are the top in the two items "I feel happy in the life I met with my current partner" and "I think that I have less frequent fights with my partner". Overall, do these two seem to be able to live together after marriage?

■ "Together" is the keyword for the condition of a good couple

The company also presented 30 items on how to interact with partners, and adopted 5 items that corresponded to many good couples as "conditions for good couples". The conditions are as follows.

・ Talk with your partner often ・ Sleep in the same room ・ Eat out together ・ Spend weekends together ・ Surround the dining table together

In addition, common hobbies and the presence or absence of pets also had an effect. It's not just a couple, but two people who share a common topic and have the same values, so it may be that they spend more time with nature.


■ There are many things around home appliances that make you irritated by your partner


No matter how close you are, it is not possible for two people to have a perfect life. Finally, when asked "What to frustrate with your partner," the top five are:

1st place: Leave home appliances on 57.4%
2nd place: Leave the lights on 55.5%
3rd place: Air conditioner set temperature 50.7%
4th place: Lack of communication 49.0%
5th place: Room cleaning (sharing, frequency, cleaning method, etc.) 48.8%

Of these, many people are concerned about the "set temperature of the air conditioner", which ranks third, with their partner and their ideal temperature within ± 3 degrees. By the way, the couple who were frustrated with the temperature setting were about 30 cm apart when watching TV than the other couples!


All of the above are based on statistical results. Believe it or not, it's up to you, but a single person may be a good reference for choosing a future partner.

The survey was conducted on the Internet for 500 men and women in their 20s and 60s (80 unmarried and 420 married) who live with their partners. The survey period is from October 15th to October 23rd, 2015.
