On December 15th, the dog and cat conservation group HOKKAIDO Tail Association started a project for the construction of a facility for protected cats. We are aiming to secure a warm cat house in Naganuma, Hokkaido, which reaches -20 degrees Celsius in the middle of winter.
HOKKAIDO Tail Club is an NPO corporation located in the lush inland countryside. However, in winter it can reach -20 degrees Celsius, and it can snow up to the knees overnight.
In the current cat house of HOKKAIDO Taisho no Kai, there are many cases where cats have to endure the severe cold in winter. For this reason, we are aiming to build a new cat house by July 2016.
In the new cat house, thick insulation is put on the floor, walls, and ceiling, and the windows are double sashes to strengthen measures against cold weather. Also, provide a hygienic isolation room to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
The project has started raising funds using the crowdfunding service READYFOR to realize the construction of a cat house. Support is possible from 3,000 yen per bit, and supporters will receive original mini tote bags, rice and processed foods from Naganuma Town, Hokkaido.
