Tokyo National Museum, New Year project "Museum for the first time"
New Year to experience national treasures and traditional performing arts

At the Tokyo National Museum in Ueno, Tokyo, the New Year project "Museum for the First Time" will be held from January 2nd to January 29th. A popular event that has been an annual event since 2003.

This year, selected works such as the national treasure "Shorin-zu byobu" (written by Hasegawa Tohaku), which is owned by the museum, will be exhibited for a limited time. Many congratulatory works with the theme of "auspiciousness" such as cranes and Mt. Fuji will be exhibited.

Also, on January 2nd and 3rd, traditional performing arts events such as Japanese drums, lion dances, and rakugo will be held. In addition, an ikebana exhibition (January 2nd to January 15th) and a campaign at the museum shop are also planned.

The facility is located at 13-9 Ueno Park, Taito-ku, Tokyo. Business hours are from 9:30 to 17:00 (until 20:00 on Fridays and Saturdays). January 10th is a closed day. The admission fee is 620 yen for general students and 410 yen for university students.
