It was announced that IKEA Japan's first urban store will open in Harajuku, Tokyo. The scheduled opening time is spring 2020. It is located in the "Harajuku Ekimae Project" complex building under development, a 1-minute walk from JR Harajuku Station.

The concept and details of the store will be announced one by one, but the sales floor area is about 2,500 m ^2, which is about one-tenth that of the conventional IKEA store. It also offers a meal menu that is familiar to IKEA.

The store, which used to have stores in the suburbs, also launched an online store service in 2017. With this store opening, it seems that it will be easier for people living in the city center to use it.
