Today, the marine plastic problem is becoming more serious. Plastic wrap used for food is also said to be one of the problems.
Meanwhile, the eco-wrap called "Mitsuro Wrap" is gradually attracting attention. By impregnating the fabric with beeswax, which has an "antibacterial and moisturizing" effect, it is characterized by being able to be washed and used repeatedly while maintaining the freshness of the food.
In addition, this wrap can be easily made by yourself as long as you have all the ingredients. So, this time, I actually made it by hand using KAWAGUCHI's "Beeswax Wrap Made of Cloth" kit!
This product is a one-time handmade kit that includes one piece of cloth (25 x 25 cm) and 15 g of beeswax. You will also need an iron, parchment paper, and newspaper to make it.
Place newspaper, parchment paper, and cloth on the ironing board, spread the beeswax, and heat it with an iron from the top of the parchment paper. Then the beeswax melts and soaks into the fabric. The sweet scent like honey spreads and is fascinating.
When the melted beeswax spreads throughout, cool it down and you're done. The entire cloth has a gloss and elasticity like a vinyl tablecloth, and it does not become sticky to the touch.
Beeswax wrap can be used directly as a lid for cups and plates, or for wrapping vegetables, bread, and sweets. By warming it with the heat of your hands, it will have the desired shape and repel water, so if it gets dirty, you can wash it and reuse it. The average usage period is about half a year to one year.
Since it is sensitive to heat, it cannot be used in a microwave oven, and please be careful not to use it directly or indirectly for infants under 1 year old. The company can also purchase beeswax alone, so why not try using your favorite fabric?
