With the recent boom of "third wave coffee", more and more people in Japan are enjoying hand drip coffee at home. I wanted to try it, but I didn't have a chance to do it, so I used a drip bag for a long time.

Meanwhile, I heard that the "experience-based" coffee shop "MINEDRIP COFFEE" where you can drip beans yourself has opened, so I decided to visit this as an opportunity.

Drip experience in the middle of Shinjuku

The store is on the roof of the commercial facility "NEWoMan" that opened in Shinjuku this spring. Surrounded by buildings in Shinjuku, it is an oasis-like space in the city where you can feel the blue sky and breeze in early summer.

First choose beans

The shop is in the form of a counter, and if you choose beans, they will grind them on the spot and prepare a drip set. Nine representative domestic coffee roasters such as "TRUNK COFFEE ROASTER" and "GLITCH COFFEE & ROASTERS" are participating in the store, and high-quality beans are lined up on the shelves. If you are not so familiar with it, tell the staff what you like and they will choose the recommendation.

Drip experience while looking at the procedure manual

Beginners like me get nervous when they say good beans, but the staff will teach you the drip procedure carefully, so you can rest assured. Those who are accustomed to it will extract by referring to the recipe that describes the extraction amount and extraction time.





The reddish coffee has no bitterness and has a soft and fluffy mouthfeel. The fruity aroma and sweetness combined with the moderate acidity make it feel like juice. I brewed it myself, and it was incredibly delicious!

You can buy your favorite beans at shops or online stores. If you think about the price per cup, it's definitely better than drinking at a cafe, so you'll want to start this.

The staff is insanely friendly

The concept of the shop is "to have the best coffee in my history", but it is a new sensation spot where you can experience such a thing. Above all, the staff will carefully support the best coffee from beginning to end (but I will never lend you a hand), so even people who have never done hand drip can easily enjoy it. There is a table in the area, but I drank it at the counter while I was talking about it.

I'm curious about it, but it's actually a donation system. Pay the price as you feel it is a special drink.

The store is open until November 30th. The store is located on the rooftop of NEWoMan 6th floor, 4-1-6 Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, and is open from 11:00 to 20:00. The same building also contains that "Blue Bottle Coffee", so it might be fun to compare it with your own brewed coffee.
