A new store of French-born frozen food specialty store "Picard" opened in Azabujuban, Tokyo on December 9th. This is the second store in Japan following the Aoyama Kotto-dori store.
The Azabujuban store is located next to the organic supermarket " Bio c'Bon " that opened at the same time, giving the impression that the store, which sells only frozen foods, is empty. However, if you look at the freezing case, you will find a wide variety of menus such as galettes, pizzas, sweets, meat, and bread, like French deli.
The brand has been ranked number one for five consecutive years in the "French favorite food brand survey". The author, who had always wanted to eat, bought a product that can be cooked in the microwave instead of lunch.
I bought "Southern France vegetable gratin" (680 yen) and "Salmon with lemon basil sauce, green vegetables and potato puree" (580 yen, both tax excluded). Both require heating in the microwave for about 10 minutes.
The gratin contains plenty of tomatoes, zucchini, eggplant, paprika, etc. that have been cut into large pieces, and is lightly topped with cheddar cheese. The fried zucchini and eggplant have a mellow texture. Other vegetables have a crispy texture like freshly made, and I feel the high level of freezing technology. Personally, I want to add a little more cheese.
On the other hand, salmon is moist and thick, and the texture of puree is smooth. It is a stylish dish with a slightly sour sauce as an accent.
Both are slightly seasoned and have the familiarity of home cooking. When I come out at a restaurant, I feel that my claim is a little weak, but if this is the case, I can eat it every day. The quality of the ingredients and texture is high, so if you are not satisfied with it, you can spare no effort by adding seasonings.
I'm also impressed by the fact that it doesn't have the sloppy feeling of "different from the package photo ..." that is often found in frozen foods. When you say "I want one more item on the table!", You can quickly add a stylish menu, so it may be good to have it on hand.
