A "meal kit" that includes ingredients and seasonings required for one cooking. Even if you are busy, it has become very popular in response to the need to finish rice by hand as much as possible.
Did you know that such a meal kit is also produced at a convenience store these days? There is also the merit of being able to pick it up at a store that is easy to reach, which is quite convenient for double-income families. This time, I will introduce the 7-Eleven and Lawson meal kits that I actually tried.
Lawson meal kit
Lawson's original meal kit "Kitchen To" can be ordered from the smartphone app "Lawson Fresh Pick" (PC is not supported). Depending on the store, if you order by 8 am, you may receive it after 14:00 on the day at the earliest. This time, I chose "Spice-scented rich and sweet keema curry (for 2 people)" which was just for a limited time. The regular price is 770 yen (excluding tax, the same applies below).
The contents of the kit are curry sauce with cut vegetables and meat, and a recipe card. You don't need a kitchen knife cutting board or a measuring spoon, just fry vegetables in a frying pan and entangle curry. The recipe said, "Eggplants, paprika, and other vegetables can be added," so I added the extra eggplants.
The spices work well, but they are not spicy, and even if you add vegetables, they remain rich and delicious! If you can afford a simple lunch with this one plate, add salad and soup and it will be a solid menu.
By the way, I was able to make a little more than two servings, so I enjoyed the curry toast the next day if I couldn't eat it. Lawson, who is quite satisfied with the amount and taste, is also interested in another menu.
Seven meal kit
Seven-Eleven's meal kit uses the product ordering service "Seven Meal" at the same store. You can apply from your PC / smartphone, but please note that the deadline for meal kits is 10:30 am, 3 days before the date of receipt. There are plenty of choices, such as daily menus and purchases for one person. Delivery to homes and workplaces as well as stores is possible (conditions such as shipping charges will change). The author asked for "meal kit (seafood eight treasures) for 2 people" for 926 yen. It is a kit that you can make Chinese soup as a side dish in addition to the main eight treasures.
The ingredients are basically cut and prepared. The soup also contains a base so you don't even need water.
Eight treasures, which are rich in ingredients such as meat, vegetables, shrimp and clams, are packaged in the order in which they are fried, so they are all finished in the best condition on the fire. There was a lot of fat in the pork and I could make it without any problems except that I wiped off the excess oil on the way.
Just add the ingredients to the soup and simmer. Overall, it has a lot of vegetables and is well-balanced, and the eight treasures with plenty of seafood go perfectly with rice! However, as a personal impression, the salt content of the food was strong, and I felt a little disappointed compared to the usual 7-Eleven side dishes. It may be unique to this menu, so I would like to try other menus as well.
