"Fukuya" in Fukuoka Prefecture, which manufactured and sold mentaiko for the first time in Japan. It's also a standard souvenir from Fukuoka, so many of you may know it even if you don't live in Kyushu.
It is said that the canned noodles called "Mentsuna Kankan", which was released just one year ago from Fukuya, is so popular that the cumulative sales have exceeded 1 million cans.
Noodle tuna kankan is tuna flakes made by seasoning domestic albacore tuna with Fukuya's spicy cod roe seasoning liquid. Normally, it is only available at Fukuya directly managed stores and online shops, but it was sold to Don Quijote Nakameguro Main Store.
It seems that there are currently three flavors of noodles, but only plain noodles are available at the store. I took it home and tried it immediately.
When you open the lid, you can see the tuna dyed in orange. If you bring it to your mouth as it is, the taste of the condensed tuna spreads, and the spiciness gradually comes.
It's just like a tuna can, and it's a simple seasoning that you can enjoy the original taste of the ingredients. You can try it as it is, and if it's not enough, you can add soy sauce or mayonnaise. On the contrary, it goes very well with mayonnaise. If you put it on other rice, the chopsticks won't stop anymore ...!
Not only as a tuna can, but also when you want to taste the stimulus of mentaiko. If you keep it in stock, it will be useful for rice balls, sandwich ingredients, toast, salads, etc.
It seems that it is only in stock at the Nakameguro main store, so if you use it often, don't forget to put it in your basket. If you can't go but are curious, check out Fukuya's online shop!
