"Mochi" that frequently appears in New Year's meals. It is delicious even if it is baked or ozoni, but did you know that it can be transformed into "okaki"? I will introduce a simple recipe using a microwave oven.
Ingredients: Cut rice cake (as much as you like)
How to make:
1. Slice the cutted rice cake to a thickness of about 5 mm.
2. Spread on a colander and let it dry for about 3 days.
* It is recommended to place it near a warm and dry window.
Lightly wrap it with plastic wrap to prevent it from getting dusty.
3. Heat in a microwave oven (600W) for 1 to 1 and a half minutes, turn it upside down and heat it again for 1 to 1 and a half minutes.
If you break it into one and it feels crisp, it's OK.
4. Add your favorite seasonings such as salt and soy sauce and you're done.
It has a fluffy and light texture because it contains a lot of air due to the swelling. Hard parts may remain due to uneven heating, so it is recommended to chew slowly and eat. I chose soy sauce this time, but it looks delicious with sauce or curry salt.
Handmade "okaki" that makes you want to show off to others. Although it is not as delicious as the commercial products, you can freely adjust the amount to make, so if you have extra toys, please try it.
