Before I bought it, I was worried that the sound would be noisy, but the conclusion was "no problem". The sound is loud during boiling, but it immediately settles down to a quiet sound that does not bother you. Even when used while sleeping, it does not interfere with sleep for the whole family. It cannot be washed completely, and when cleaning it, remove the top lid and steam cover to wash away or wipe off dirt. Then, remove the dirt on the inside of the tank using citric acid like an electric kettle in the "citric acid cleaning" mode (once every 1 to 2 months). Some care is still required, but I personally find it much easier than cleaning the filter.
